Utada Hikaru has decided to record another US studio album, this time making sure it's less experimental and more poppy.

Sure, the album is less experimental and should blend with the other American albums pretty well, but it lacks the Hikaru factor, at least most of the songs do. Even though the lyrics are really well written, most of the songs lack something her Japanese ones have.

Of course, not all the songs are supposed to be meaningful and some should only be fun, however, the only songs that I would consider up to her standards on This Is The One are "This One (Crying Like A Child)", "Me Muero" while "FYI - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" and "Apple & Cinnamon" are pretty good too.

The leading track "Come Back To Me" is a generic R'n'B ballad that really doesn't bring anything new to the whole story of American popular music, even though it has a nice piano melody.

To conclude this, the album could be fun to listen to, the lyrics are kinda playful and you will most likely have some of the songs stuck in your head for a while. She sure managed to make a pop album. The question is, is it really that good?
