This is a pretty listenable mini-album, although I'm not quite sure why. Kaori's vocal deliveries range from passable to poor, and her voice is nothing particularly unique. You could grab a handful of similar singers out of any collection of mildly popular j-pop acts. The melodies and arrangements found on this disc are also, mostly, quite standard pop fair, and could be mooshed in with any number of idol acts seamlessly. The production style is the standard I've Sound sound, and I can turn to any number of I've girls for it. Put all these things together, and the outcome is actually fairly pleasant. It does feel like a pretty safe and mild album, especially from I've Sound, but some tracks manage to be quite nice (Spyglass, Kono Sora no Shita de), while others hit on awkward (Chasse, which is cutesy and sounds like a child taking a stomping stroll to squash bugs).
So really, the parts are typical and fairly standard. Which leads me to wonder: Why should I be interested in Kaori Utatsuki? I don't know. But this is only a first try. She'll just have to prove herself.
