Whenever I read online reviews where rabid fans give five star ratings regardless of the quality of material, and equally rabid haters dish out zeros without ever having experienced it, I just roll my eyes.
I try to be objective and fair, and give things ratings that reflect the material. But this album is crap. Pure crap. It's not even steaming. It's the kind of crusty, dried out old crap that you find lying in the garden, then either bury in the dirt or sneakily toss into your neighbour's yard when no one is looking. The very fact that you ever came into contact with it must be kept secret, lest people think you're terrible, or weird.
It's rehashed. It's old news. She's done it a hundred times before, and better at that. 'Mirror' is good, but it's better in its incarnation as the full song Mirrorcle World. Awful title, but a lot more bang for your buck. That release alone makes this album null and void. She should've just skipped this and gone straight to that single. And who cares aout what would happen to the pre-album singles? glitter? Please. Did we honestly need 'fairyland 3.0'? fated was boring too.
talkin' 2 myself and decision were a waste of time as well. Some of the worst rock songs she's ever put out. She's really dug herself a crud rut it seems. She just can't get out of this crud for some reason. 'Together when...' was alright, until I realized that she's released that song more times than fairyland. It's the same ballad with the same sound, formula, cruddy vocals, and forced emotion and vibrato she's given us over and over. Even watching the PV was like watching a compilation of clips from her other PVs. People went on and on about the meaning and symbolism in it. Yeah, the rain symbolizes pain and renewal. Anyone with a grade 9 education and the words 'pathetic fallacy' could tell you that. But they're wrong anyway. the rain is actually the tears of people who are so sick of her redundant crap.
Even the imagery of dolls/puppets is stale.
It's high time that Ayu take a break and really think about what she wants and needs to say musically. She needs to treat her music like her wardrobe: keep it updated, change it constantly, do new and interesting things with it.
Ayu wouldn't be caught dead wearing the same dress twice, so why is she ok with repackaging songs over and over again?
